How to choose a Christmas meat hamper
What to think about before ordering a butcher’s hamper — guests, freezer space, cooking plans and dietary needs.
Start with who you are feeding
Count the meals, not just the guests. A hamper can cover Christmas Day, Boxing Day and the days in between, so think about breakfasts, a buffet and a mid-week roast.
Check your fridge and freezer
Fresh meat needs fridge space on the bottom shelf. If you are buying for the whole holiday, plan what goes in the freezer and what you will cook first.
Think about the whole table
A good hamper mixes a centrepiece with everyday favourites — sausages, bacon, a joint and something for the barbecue-lovers. All of our sausages and burgers are gluten free, which helps when hosting a mixed table.
